My Mom made all these samplers and lots more. They are all from a mail order company that is no longer in business called Jane Snead.
They are stamped cross stitch with some embroidery, no one we knew did counted cross stitch way back then.

What a lovely collection!
ReplyDeleteLove those!! They are so cozy and homey. :)
ReplyDeleteReminds me of my grandma. So nice to have.
ReplyDeleteThose are so cool! I love to cross stitch, but have never done pieces as lovely as those.
ReplyDeleteI love those! I really like the first one - it's one of my favorite sayings.j

I am looking for a sampler pattern which I think came from a Jane Snead Book. It goes:
ReplyDeleteI like to sweep the front porch steps, the sun shines and the birds all sing, I hate to sweep the kitchen floor, I never see or hear a thing.
Please contact me at finhold54@aol.com if you know where I can find this pattern.
I have made several Jane Snead Samplersover the years for family members. My favorite one was one that I made for my Mom and have treasured it greatly since her death.
Thanks,
Jeanie Cox
I just found an old catalog in some of my deceased mother's things. I wondered if the sampler patters were still available. My mother made many of them also. I did counted cross stitch which seems easier, at least easier to keep NEAT! The one mentioned above is not in the catalog I have.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - Jane Snead is not it business any longer. sometimes a sampler or 2 can be found on Ebay.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that the stamped is a nice way to do cross stitch, takes a little less "thinking" too
If Jane Snead went back into production, would anyone be interested in purchasing the kits?
ReplyDeleteI think that would be wonderful if Jane Snead was back in business. And Yes! I do think lots of people would be interested in purchasing Jane Snead kits.
ReplyDeleteMy mom and I also did Jane Snead samplers. My house is full of them! Unfortunately, many of them have disappeared - the "Guest" sampler was among my favorites. It's hard to find stamped samplers anymore.
ReplyDeleteJuly 2011 - Jane Snead Samplers are back! The owner of the company is a member of the original family and has an inventory of the original designs which she is selling on eBay. I have bought several thusfar and they are lovely. The seller is very nice and responds to questions. Just go to eBay and enter "Jane Snead" in the search box and the items will come up. If you don't see a particular design you are looking for, you can contact the seller and if she has it in stock, she will post it on eBay. Seller's i.d. is: planb2239
