Tonight's supper

We are having one of my favorite dishes for supper tonight, smoked sausage with green beans and potatoes.
Start by cooking about 2 cups of peeled diced potatoes in water. While the potatoes are cooking, saute a small onion in just enough oil so the onion will brown and not stick.
I like this Healthy Ones smoked sausage. It is just 80 calories a serving. Dice the sausage and brown with the onion after the onion is cooked. Light sausage does not need to be cooked very long , it seems to break down if over-cooked.
Drain the cooked potatoes and green beans. Add to the skillet with the sausage and onions. Cover the skillet and cook on low just until heated through. Add pepper and just enough salt to taste.

This is me doing something I rarely do, cooking without an apron!

  1. Your recipes always look so good! I would love to try this one too! Also, we had our first yellow watermelon ever recently too! I'm not too sure I liked it. LOL

  2. Debbie, thank you for the compliment!
We liked the yellow melon and thought it was good, But melons can be so different in taste and texture though even when they look the same on the outside.

  3. I am so surprised to see you making this meal Rhonda. This is a Dutch farmer's dish and I have never heard Americans doing it. I do it with green beans in the summer and autumn until the Brussel sprouts come in season and then use them. It is such a great meal. Now I will think of you when I make it next. How fun!

I had no idea this is a Dutch meal.
This is fun, now I have a new name for this and will call it the Dutch Farmers Dish instead of that "sausage potato and green bean stuff" :)
    Thanks for telling me!
