Dutch Baby ( baked puffed pancake)
2 T butter * 2 Eggs * 1/2 cup of flour and milk * pinch of salt
place the butter in an oven proof 8 or 9 inch pan. place pan in a 400 degree oven until the butter melts. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs. Then whisk in the milk, flour and salt. Carefully pour in to hot butter. (Just pour it in, don't stir) Bake for 20-25 minutes, until it is puffed and well browned. Serve immediately.
I like it with just a little powdered sugar on top. My kids like maple syrup. The recipe book suggests a raisin apple sauce.
This is a very easy, quick and low cost breakfast.
This is new to me! Sure looks good and I'm sure it was!

ReplyDeleteThat's a Yorkshire Pudding!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks GREAT!!! Try it with sliced roast beef and onion gravy!!!
Or put half cooke sausages into the mix and then cook as normal - Toad in the hole - add more onion gravy!!!
Yum Yum yum!
I love this kind of pancake but it is called a German pancake in my recipe book. And someone commented that it is a Yorkshire pudding which it is similar to but not savory (baked in meat fat with gravey over it) but sweet. I love the magic of watching them rise. :)

Wow, this looks good and I think I am going to make it tomorrow morning for the grandkids and me and DH. Looks so good. I love anything with powdered sugar especially, OY, I think I am in trouble. LOL thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI've had a Dutch Baby at an upscale breakfast place in my area, but there's has havarti cheese and vegetables in it. I wonder if I could simply add these ingredients into the mixture and bake as usual? Maybe I'll try it!
ReplyDeleteI love dutch babies. I like mine with lemon juice and powdered sugar!
