what I'm doing today

Taking care of baby Gavin - check out his socks, they look like Converse high tops but are just socks. Gavin is 11 weeks old today.
I got this gold R at a rummage sale for 10 cents - sorry my pictures are out of order but look below to see it's makeover.

My daughter gives me boxes of randomness every so often - it is her no longer needed or wanted junk but I usually find very nice and useful stuff in her junk. I got this assortment from here last year.
Today I will be going through this current batch. Some of it is really junk but I 've washed the 3 glass jars, they will look great in my pantry. The pink Maggie B makeup bag and glasses case will be going in my purse. I think the napkin holder will be great in the breakfast nook.

The R after it's makeover.
I spray painted it black, cut an R from a sheet of damask print scrapbook paper and adhered it with Mod Podge.

Laundry drying on my new clothesline. I've been wanting one for quite a while. My lawyer-to-be son asked if I had the checked with the restrictions of our homeowners association, and, No, I have not, but I don't think it will be a problem. It is in the backyard inside a privacy fence.

I probably won't dry all our laundry outside but according to Gayle, you can really reduce your energy bills if you switch to line drying.

Update - Valerie asked where I got my clothesline. I could not find one sold locally so I ordered this one from Amazon. Jeff installed it with one bag of cement. I'm very happy with its quality and design.

  2. Baby Gavin is so cute! And I LOVE what you did with that gold R. I would have just left it, but the way you did it makes so much more of an impact. I wish I was creative like that!

  4. I line dry my laundry as much as I can, I don't actually have a dryer but do have an indoor airer which is used on a wet day and the clothes dry in the warmth of the house.

  5. I love what you did with that R!

Line drying really does save money. I experimented with it last year (I dry my stuff indoors on fold-out drying racks), and in similar months (temperatures and energy usage), my electric bill dropped $22 in the month I air-dried the clothes instead of using the dryer.

  6. I see your vintage sheets on there! I have certain things that do well on the line like sheets, mens undershirts and boxers. So on Saturdays in warm weather I can hang a couple of loads. Its also easy to hang some things on hangers right out of the washer. Good post, I need to check out the link on saving money by hanging laundry.

  8. I used to have a drying mill like that. I don't hang my clothes out anymore as we have no backyard. Gavin is looking so adorable. And I just love your letter R makeover. Boy did that make a difference.

You can come bake cookies in my kitchen. If Jos likes your cookies, you may be held prisoner...lol.

    Hugs ~
