Happy New Year, 2008!

Happy New Year everyone.
Our family's tradition on January 1 is to eat blackeyed peas and cabbage. The tradition says the peas will bring good luck and the cabbage will bring money. We are not superstitious, but we really like the way they taste.
The cute little fellow wearing the Happy New Year banner is a thrift store find, I think he cost 50 cents and was worth every penny. He really makes me smile.

  1. I love you little statue... it's a good thing the picture is of the front, not the back... ;)

  2. Our family has a tradition that eating pork and sauerkraut on New Year's Day brings you financial happiness in the coming year.

I wish you and your family the greatest year ever!

  3. Heidi, your new years meal sounds delicious! Jeff and I are very fond of sauerkraut but none of our children like it all. But since they are not usually here, I should make it soon, maybe even tomorrow night.
