My husband says 2 of his co-workers stop at a convenience store every morning for a pack of cigarettes and an energy drink, then make a second stop for biscuits and gravy at a fast food place on their way to work. Yikes! That all seems like it would take so much time and money aside from being so unhealthy.
Jeff brown-bags his breakfast and lunch everyday he works. His lunch is usually a helping a leftovers from our previous night's supper. For breakfast, he really likes a homemade breakfast sandwich.
I use Grands biscuits, $1.67 a can - 50 cents/2 coupon and Farmland bacon, $2.50 - $2 coupon, bought at Wal-mart.
Each sandwich gets wrapped in a Baggie and frozen, then Jeff re-heats his 24 cent sandwich when he gets to work.

I really need to do this for my guys. They would love it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI probably shouldn't be writing on this but I just wanted to let all of you know just how much I think of my wife and what she does for me. She is a keeper!!!
ReplyDeleteJeff
Do they reheat well (does the biscuit get tough)? I've been looking for quick breakfast meals for my daughter that I can make ahead. She does love those Grand biscuits but I've never tried freezing them.
ReplyDeleteEdie, we think Grands brand are the best biscuit to reheat.
ReplyDeleteWhen I dish up his leftovers for his next day's lunch, I usually get a biscuit from the freezer and put it the fridge with his lunch. That way, when he reheats it, he is really just heating it up for 30 seconds, and not having to thaw it out it.
I have been making them for years and Jeff really likes them.
Thanks for this great idea! Last night my teen son and my husband did three rolls of Grands, plus two packages of turkey bacon. We put half in the freezer and half in the frige. My son was a happy camper this morning!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Very frugal!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby brown bags his lunch too. Can't believe the people that waste so much money going out to eat every day! Then those same people complain that they don't ever have any money. Just plain stupid!
