Before
I am a little grumpy because I'll end up working about 27 hours this week. I work part-time and shorter work hours really suit me best. I like it best when I work 15-18 hours a week. But then I read where my friend Susan is working 12 hour shifts this week, yikes! I don't know how she does it.
The hours I have been home, I've cleaned most every room, did all the laundry and kept meals prepared.
And I recovered the chairs and a bench in our breakfast nook. The chairs came with white seats and they were pretty when they were new, but after 4 years, they were a bit spotted. The piano bench is only used when we need some extra seating.
I got the fabric at a little fabric -sewing machine shop near my office. This piece was a remnant and the owner did not want to sell it to me because she kept pointing a spot on it and telling me it would not be enough for this project. But it was just big enough, I worked around the spot and I really like how the stripes look with the toile curtains.
The fabric name is "beach umbrella"

That new fabric really adds cheer to the breakfast nook! Nice!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cheerful place to sit and start your day! The stripe is perfect with the toile.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you for not wanting to work long hours. I am so thankful that I can be at home. Is the extra time temporary?

Hi Rhonda, as usual I love anything you do! This is so pretty. I love how you worked around the spot and made something useful and beautiful from something the owner thought was useless.
ReplyDeleteI really like it! It blends so nice with your curtains. You obviously have an eye for colors because I don't think I could match fabrics like that!
ReplyDeleteI feel for you working overtime, I had to work 10 hour days before Christmas and hated it! It really throws you off schedule doesn't it?
I bet your excited about your upcoming grandbaby! If this is your first, you have no idea was is in store for you! :) Its wonderful!
I LOVE it, I am so jealous. You did a wonderful job. The fabric really pops on the black chairs. Good job.

ReplyDeleteI love your chairs and bench. I can't believe the shop owner didn't want to sell you the fabric. Doesn't she understand that people know how to work around spots?
ReplyDeleteI love this fabric! How pretty everything looks!! Good job!
ReplyDeletestop by my thriftymama7 blog and see what i have for you!
ReplyDeleteRhonda,
ReplyDeleteThat's just beautiful! I'm going to be making a recipe book for a dd, and now I think I'll add stripes with the toile I was going to use. What a pretty idea. Thanks!
This is just Toooo Cute I love it and you are right about the Toile curtains it really works.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so lovely. I love the fabric, but I love everything you make.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I love how it works with the toile!

I love the fabric on these chairs! OK, you've inspired me to get going with my kitchen chairs. The fabric on the seats is an off-white and very dirty looking. Did you just fold the material over the seats and then use a heavy-duty staple gun?
